Choose the Right Connection
Android Auto projects supported phone apps onto the car display. It is separate from Bluetooth music, a DEEPAL Bluetooth phone key and remote vehicle controls in the DEEPAL app. Working music playback, app login or phone-key access does not establish a working Android Auto connection.
| Connection | What It Does | Evidence and Limits |
|---|---|---|
| Wireless Android Auto | Projects supported navigation, calls and media apps from an Android phone. | The Australian E07 specification lists wireless Android Auto for RWD and AWD Performance, requiring a compatible phone. Google’s current phone prerequisites still apply. |
| USB Android Auto | Google also supports wired projection in compatible vehicles. | The reviewed E07 sources do not establish a wired-projection port or procedure. A USB socket or charging phone does not prove USB Android Auto support. Confirm with DEEPAL before using a cable as an E07 diagnostic. |
| Bluetooth Music and Calls | Plays phone audio and supports calls through the infotainment system. | The E07 manual documents this connection independently of phone projection. |
| DEEPAL App and Phone Key | Provides authorised vehicle status/control and a separately configured nearby Bluetooth key. | Follow the app/key setup guides. Android Auto pairing does not authorise a key or bind a vehicle to an account. |

Prepare the Phone and Car
Google’s wireless requirements and troubleshooting call for a compatible phone running Android 11.0 or later, an active data plan and 5 GHz Wi-Fi support, plus a compatible vehicle. Google recommends the latest Android version. Android Auto is integrated into supported phones; Android Go edition is unsupported. These requirements were checked on 15 October 2026. Confirm an older phone’s wireless eligibility with Google and the phone manufacturer rather than assuming a wired-connection requirement also applies wirelessly. See Google’s Android Auto Requirements.
On the phone, open Settings, then About Phone and Android Version to check the operating system. Labels can differ by phone manufacturer. If needed, follow Google’s Android Version and Update Instructions.
Park in P with the infotainment system on. Allow time for setup before driving. Keep phone Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and Location Services on and check mobile coverage. Follow any Android Auto update and permission prompts, reading what each requested permission enables. See Google’s Wireless Setup Instructions.
Set up Wireless Android Auto
The retained 22 April 2026 E07 manual documents the Bluetooth route below but contains no Android Auto pairing or launch section. The projection prompts and exact app location can therefore differ with E07 software. The following combines that vehicle-specific pairing route with Google’s wireless setup guidance; it is not a verified E07 pairing procedure.
Open the Car’s Bluetooth Controls
On the car screen, open Vehicle Settings, choose Connection, then select Bluetooth. Enable Bluetooth if needed. The manual also gives Apps, Bluetooth Phone and Click To Pair Bluetooth Device as an alternative route.
Pair the Intended Phone
Open the phone’s Bluetooth settings and make it available for pairing. In the car’s Bluetooth screen, search for the phone and select its name. Follow the pairing confirmations shown on both devices. The manual also permits finding the car through Available Devices on the phone.
Complete the Projection Prompts
Follow the Android Auto setup prompts on the phone and car. Complete any requested update before continuing. A Bluetooth connection alone is only the pairing stage.
Open Android Auto
Google says wireless Android Auto should start after Bluetooth pairing; if it does not, follow the car’s launch prompt or select Android Auto on the car display if offered. If that control is missing, record the vehicle software version and ask DEEPAL to confirm its location and availability.
Confirm the Result While Parked
Confirm the Android Auto interface is displayed and the intended phone app opens. Check a navigation destination or media app before starting your drive. Phone music playing through Bluetooth is a separate result.

Troubleshoot the Actual Symptom
It Has Never Connected
Recheck the Phone Prerequisites and complete the First Connection procedure while parked. Check for unfinished prompts on either screen and whether Android Auto is enabled or offered by the current infotainment software. If Bluetooth calls work but projection never appears, record that distinction when contacting DEEPAL. Google recommends confirming vehicle compatibility and checking that Android Auto is enabled. See Google’s Android Auto Troubleshooting.
It Worked before and Will Not Reconnect
While parked, confirm phone Bluetooth and Wi-Fi remain enabled and check the intended phone’s connection in the car’s Bluetooth screen. Try opening the offered Android Auto control. Record any change since the last successful connection, including phone, Android Auto or vehicle updates. Check for available phone app updates using Google’s App Update Instructions.
Google’s general troubleshooting includes restarting the infotainment system. An E07 restart-button sequence was not established in the reviewed manual; ask DEEPAL for the applicable procedure if needed. This guide does not prescribe an unverified vehicle reset.
The Phone Has a Saved Connection to Another Car
Google documents a reset for trouble connecting to a second car. On the phone, open Settings, choose Connected Devices, then Connection Preferences and Android Auto. Open Previously Connected Cars, use its menu and choose Forget All Cars. This removes all saved Android Auto car connections, so use it only when prepared to set those up again. Then repeat wireless setup. Google describes this reset with a wired reconnection; its success on the E07 wireless connection has not been verified. See Google’s Second-Car Troubleshooting.
It Reconnects When You Want to Use a Hotspot
A community report reviewed on 13 October 2026 describes Android Auto reconnecting after disconnection and interfering with phone-hotspot use. Replies suggested connection settings or disabling Bluetooth, but no confirmed original-owner result was recorded. A reliable E07 method for keeping projection disconnected while using that phone’s hotspot remains unverified. If considering a Bluetooth change, keep a physical key available when you rely on a Bluetooth phone key. Ask DEEPAL and the phone manufacturer about the specific phone and software combination.
Check Vehicle Software Updates
DEEPAL Australia’s public E07 OTA 1.1.0 notes list Android Auto bug fixes, as checked on 15 October 2026. The notes do not identify every affected phone, failure or guaranteed recovery. Read The Australian E07 Release Notes and check the update actually offered to your vehicle.
In the car, open Vehicle Settings, choose System, then System Upgrade. Read the displayed release instructions and prerequisites before proceeding. Follow The Vehicle Software Update Guide. The manual requires internet during an update and warns that vehicle functions may be limited or disabled. Wait until the update completes before using the vehicle. Contact an authorised service centre if updating fails or the vehicle cannot start afterwards.

One Owner-Reported Recovery
An owner updated a 10 October 2026 report to say an OTA fixed Android Auto. The report was reviewed on 13 October; the exact installed version and long-term recurrence checks were not recorded. This is one reported outcome, not proof that OTA 1.1.0 was the installed version or a universal fix.
The same owner said downloading maps fixed a black screen in the car’s native navigation. Native navigation and a phone navigation app projected through Android Auto are separate systems. That report does not establish that downloading the vehicle’s map package repairs Android Auto or Google Maps.
Record a Useful Support Report
Give DEEPAL the phone make/model, Android version, Android Auto version, E07 variant and vehicle software version. Include the date, exact error, whether it is first setup or reconnection, the last successful connection and any recent updates. State whether Bluetooth calls/music work, whether the Android Auto interface opens and whether the failure is in projection or native navigation. Capture screenshots while parked and remove personal details before sharing them publicly.
Google setup, requirements and troubleshooting, and DEEPAL’s Australian public release notes were checked on 15 October 2026. Manual pairing routes and wireless specification were reviewed against retained Australian E07 documents. The cited documents do not verify pairing, projection, wired connection, hotspot coexistence or recovery on your E07. Follow the labels and instructions for your installed software.
